6 Ways to Find Out What Happened There
In the case of an incident where you need to find out what happened at a specific location or job site, GPS Insight is your most valuable tool. As the manager of a fleet, life is hectic enough when things are running smoothly, but when something goes wrong (and let’s face it – inevitably it does at some point), it seems as though everything comes to a screeching halt until you can handle the issue. This time, instead of searching through log books, interviewing employees and utilizing valuable company resources to investigate an accident or customer complaint, GPS Insight streamlines the process by providing the data you need at your fingertips so that you can resolve the situation and get back to business.
Answers at the Click of a Mouse
When a GPS Insight customer received a phone call from a client accusing an employee of stealing her cell phone from her backyard, it was very easy to find out if her claim was true. Given as little information as her address and when she had made her last call from the phone, they were able to use GPS Insight to investigate and ultimately find that the employee had left her house 20 minutes prior to that time. The following GPS Insight features could have found the answer.
Unlimited 2D and 3D Vehicle History Mapping
GPS Insight provides 2D and 3D History Mapping that can be used to display vehicle locations from the day the GPS units were installed, with no history limit. Managers can simply select the dates in question and a vehicle/group of vehicles to track visually. The maps will show you an animated history trail of the routes taken and the stops made. By clicking on any point, information such as vehicle speed, position and time will appear. In the 3D map, you can adjust the activity bar at the top of the window to the time being investigated and input the address to zoom in on the location, enabling you to view which vehicles, if any, were in the area. With multiple angles and street view options available, you can also see what is near the location (i.e., businesses or residences)
Activity Detail Report
The Activity Detail Report enables managers to see vehicle information in a table format for any needed time frame. It breaks down the vehicle’s activity into 2-minute increments and identifies whether the vehicle is running, idling, or stopped, making it easy to address customer claims. Also, this report will detail the vehicle’s max/average speeds at locations along the route, which could be helpful in the event that you ever have to dispute a speeding ticket or a “How’s My Driving?” complaint.
Stop Detail Report
If you’re looking for a quick visual of fleet activity for your entire fleet or just one vehicle, the stop detail/idle graph provides the information you need. This graph breaks down each vehicle’s drive time, idling and stops for the day in a brightly colored, easy to read graph. By hovering over the graph on the time you’re interested in, you can see detailed information on the stop location and stop time.
GPS Insight has features that allow management to take a proactive approach to the inevitable day-to-day events that occur. Using these features will save time and confusion down the line.
Stop Notes
In the event that a driver needs to document details of a stop, document a problem, or justify additional time at a site, GPS Insight’s Stop Notes is a valuable functionality. With a simple text message, driver notes can be added to the stops on their route so that you can have record of what took place.
Stop Notes Picture
When a note simply won’t do, a picture speaks 1,000 words. We’ve made it possible for pictures to be emailed or sent via smart phone from the field and added into our mapping and reports, providing visual proof.
Driver ID
If you have pooled vehicles, it is easy to identify who was driving. Since many vehicles are used by more than one driver, GPS Insight has taken the guesswork out of identifying who was driving at the time of the incident. Drivers can be assigned to a vehicle in several ways, such as touching a key fob to a reader in the vehicle, sending the Driver ID via Garmin, or even SMS messaging. Any activity that takes place during the time the driver is assigned to the vehicle will be recorded and associated with that driver, allowing the manager to skip the stacks of paperwork and simply run a report to see who was driving during that particular instance.
We know it isn’t possible to be there every time an incident occurs with one of your vehicles, which is why GPS Insight provides numerous options to investigate these. This invaluable insight into your daily operations allows you to effectively manage your fleet, all while driving your bottom line.
