GPS Insight is proud to share that Charles Layne, CEO of GPS Insight, has been recognized as one of the Phoenix Business Journal’s 2026 Most Admired Leaders—an honor that highlights outstanding executives across Arizona who are making a meaningful impact within their organizations and communities.
Each year, the Phoenix Business Journal selects a small group of leaders from across industries—including private companies, public agencies, nonprofits, and educational institutions—who demonstrate exceptional leadership, organizational impact, and commitment to the communities they serve. Now in its 17th year, the Most Admired Leaders program celebrates executives who not only drive business success but also inspire those around them through their leadership approach and vision.
Charles joins an accomplished group of leaders recognized for their ability to guide organizations through change, foster strong teams, and create lasting value. This comes from a list of more than 160 nominees narrowed down to 25 winners.
Leadership That Starts with Teamwork
Since joining GPS Insight three years ago, Charles has led with a philosophy centered on accountability, teamwork, and leading by example. His leadership style is often described by colleagues as firm, fair, energetic, and grounded in high expectations—qualities that help build strong teams and drive meaningful results.
Charles traces many of his leadership principles back to his first management role at a pizza shop, where he oversaw a team running arcade games, fair rides, and a full-service restaurant.
From that experience came a lesson that continues to shape how he leads today: do the right thing, even when no one is watching. Rather than relying solely on delegation, Charles believes leaders should work alongside their teams and never ask someone to do something they wouldn’t do themselves.
That philosophy has helped cultivate a culture of collaboration and shared ownership across GPS Insight.
Embracing New Ideas in a Time of Change
In a rapidly evolving technology landscape, Charles encourages emerging leaders to challenge assumptions and stay open to new ways of thinking.
“Never underestimate the power of a new idea,” he often says. Moving beyond long-standing habits or “sacred cows” can open the door to real innovation—especially as technologies like artificial intelligence reshape industries and create new opportunities for growth.
Under his leadership, GPS Insight continues to focus on helping organizations operate more efficiently through smarter fleet and asset management solutions while remaining adaptable in a fast-changing market.
A Recognition Shared Across the Organization
While the Most Admired Leaders award highlights individual leadership, Charles views the recognition as a reflection of the people around him.
At GPS Insight, success is driven by a team committed to helping customers improve safety, efficiency, and visibility across their fleets and operations. Charles’s leadership has helped guide that mission while continuing to strengthen the company’s culture and vision for the future.
We congratulate Charles Layne on this well-deserved recognition and look forward to the continued impact his leadership will bring to GPS Insight, our customers, and the broader community.
